Dawn as we leave Bulungula, reluctantly. I know I will be back. |
Today we have to leave beautiful Bulungula, we’re all feeling a bit sad about that. We try and get as early start as possible, but Bulungula moves at its own pace. I sit back, figuring that having breakfast listening to Bob Marley on a beautiful morning next to the beach isn’t too bad.
We have no project visits scheduled for today. Instead we have a long drive ahead of us, approximately 2 hours bumping back to Mthatha and then it’s another 4 hours onto Port Shepstone. When we finally get onto the tar, the warm afternoon makes me drowsy, I curl up and sleep on the back seat.
Here are some pics of the day…

We've crossed the regional border into KwaZulu-Natal, lying amongst pine-needle cushions of Sappi plantations. |
I asked my dad, who lives in KwaZulu-Natal, if he'd like to join us for the Port Shepstone leg of our road trip. He's delighted and his fluent Zulu will come in handy. |

Wow, the person responsible for capturing these pictures, is a magician. So real and dont need words to describe them (sorry Lou). I was thinking if this was Mark Wessels the freelance photographer that shoots for newspapers like Sunday Times?
ReplyDeleteGot to agree with Mark. The photos make the stories come alive and give the reader a real sense of 'being there with you'. Logging on to this blog has become a daily ritual and the first thing I do every morning. Thank you for sharing this incredible journey with us, am looking forward to tomorrow's post.
ReplyDeleteReading this post and humming a really bad rendition of CCR's 'Bad moon rising' - great writing, simply amazing photography and what look like #NOM pizza. Can it get any better? Thanks for taking us along with you - bring on Day 12!

ReplyDeleteSorry about not posting regularly but we've been really battling with internet connection at various places. For those who read our blog with morning coffee, please bear with us and we'll update as soon as we can. And yes, Mark Wessels is the one and the same that Mark Anthony Wessels thinks he is :) ... From my laptop in the back seat of the car!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! :D
